Like the other poster, I’ve only just come across the podcasts and they’re pretty cool, and useful, and I really wish there’d be more. A real pity you’ve closed this down. But thanks for what you’ve done so far.

I have only recently found this site. I’m listening to the podcasts and must say they’re very pleasant to listen. Wish there were more.

Nick I don’t know what you tried but it worked very well for me. Maybe you were doing the strokes in the wrong order because it worked with every single Kanji I gave it.

The fact that it’s written in AJAX means nothing if it doesn’t work. And because it doesn’t work, well we have precisely nothing here.

I tried it out and it was a complete waste of time. I got maybe one kanji in half a dozen to even appear in the list of candidate kanji that comes up.

Don’t agree on #1, except that you definetely have to learn Kana. But after that, writing words in Kana which are usually written in Kanji is useless. Ramaji is used far more than Kana. Japanese use Romaji everyday on their PC, it’s the standard input method. Hiragana itself isn’t very useful. It’s not like you’ll write a handwritten letter all in Hiragana.

Aww, this made me so nostalgic! So many funny, quirky and endearing things about Japan…I do miss it awfully. I only got to spend a year there studying in Nagoya, so I didn’t have time to really get all of these items, but it’s very educational–now I know that I *shouldn’t* tell ppl I majored in English, lol!

Thanks for the list and keep enjoying your life in Japan, you lucky ex-gaijin, you!!
